At the moment we are are finishing off the last of the leaf clearing – the Herb garden is tidy and ready for the coming year. Extra roses have been added to one of the beds. The first rose is called Gertrude Jekyll, to fit in with her design of the herb garden, a light pink flower with good scent. The second rose is called Munstead Wood, the name of the house where Gertrude Jekyll used to live in Godalming, this is deep velvet crimson with an old rose fragrance. There are also a few other roses to add to the collection around the garden.

The Herbaceous borders are next on the list to be cut back, delayed from the bad weather over winter. Mulch will be added to certain plants.

The beds near the exit to the garden need to be cleared of ivy and replanted using grasses, Echinacea and Helenium – which will be built up over the years.

The 72 Dinosaurs will have a good wash before our first opening date – new planting will be gradually introduced to enhance this area.

New for 2010 we are also offering Tinsel and Turkey lunches, priced at just £15.00 per person and available Wednesday lunchtimes throughout December aimed at the over 60’s.

For its second year, Knebworth House will play host to big rock festival Sonisphere From 30^th July to 1^st August.  Headlined by Rammstein and Iron Maiden, Sonisphere is Europe’s first touring rock festival and the UK’s largest Metal Festival. 

Knebworth’s 50 per day plus team will service and provide catering throughout the Rock Royalty VIP areas including the VIP Campsite.  The Knebworth security team will also complement the Kilimanjaro front of house security operation.

The first Sonisphere Festival was held at Knebworth House last year on 1st and 2nd August and was headlined by the legendary Linkin Park and Metalica.  Knebworth has also played host to some of the biggest music events ever, from the rolling stones, Queen’s Final Concert together with Freddie Mercury, Genesis, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.  Robbie Williams sold out three nights at Knebworth and Oasis played in front of 250,000 people however ticket applications topped 2.5m.

Two shows in one with Japanese performance cars from the 1960′s to date including Toyota, Lexus, Mitsubishi, Honda, Mazda plus a separate Perfromance Ford Show with all models from the Escort to the Focus and a wide variety of trade stands.

Monday 31 May – Mini & VW Car Show

Two shows in one with the best of British and German engineering with Mini’s from 1959 to date and VW’s from the oldest Beetle through to the newest Golf.  All complete with an arena, commentator, trade stands and autojumble.
