Your chance to travel back in time experiencing an historic family fun day at Knebworth. In the House you can try your hand at calligraphy and Tudor brass rubbing. Dress in Tudor costume, hear and play Tudor musical instruments and design your own family Coat of Arms.

Garden activities will include Make a Lavender Bag, Victorian bowls, Tudor brass rubbing, Papermaking and Printing and a Mystery Object Quiz.

Traditional crafts and demonstrations include Rush Matting, spinning, tablet weaving, finger brading and more.

Saturday 9^th August 1986 – 120,000 Queen fans rock Knebworth not knowing this was Queen’s last ever gig with Freddie Mercury.

Iron Maiden and Rammstein Headline Sonisphere at Knebworth

For its second year, Knebworth House will play host to big rock festival Sonisphere From 30^th July to 1^st August. Headlined by Rammstein and Iron Maiden, Sonisphere is Europe’s first touring rock festival and the UK’s largest Metal Festival.

Knebworth’s 50 per day plus team will service and provide catering throughout the Rock Royalty VIP areas including the VIP Campsite. The Knebworth security team will also complement the Kilimanjaro front of house security operation.

The first Sonisphere Festival was held at Knebworth House last year on 1st and 2nd August and was headlined by the legendary Linkin Park and Metalica. Knebworth has also played host to some of the biggest music events ever, from the rolling stones, Queen’s Final Concert together with Freddie Mercury, Genesis, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. Robbie Williams sold out three nights at Knebworth and Oasis played in front of 250,000 people however ticket applications topped 2.5m.

Illyria theatre company brings the world’s most popular children’s author, Roald Dahl, to the open-air stage. James is an orphan who is sent to live with his two terrible aunts. But when the peach tree in the garden sprouts a single peach which grows and grows and grows, James befriends some very peculiar insects, breaks free from the clutches of his aunts and embarks on the adventure of a lifetime.

Illyria’s most eagerly awaited family show is funny, exciting and includes plenty of opportunities for participation. Suitable for all ages 5+.
